We wanted to share the article as it includes succinct advice on VAT associated with new build dwellings and provides real-life examples; one of which is a house we recently designed, shortlisted for the 2017 LABC Building Excellence awards.
As the piece suggests costs per square metre are not in any way accurate. But, they are really useful when it comes to calculating the budget for your new home. The ability to get an approximate cost just by running a scale around even the sketchiest of plans will help massively in the decision making during the design process.
It is interesting to note that building in Oxfordshire is more expensive than the national average, something to be borne in mind when embarking on the route to a dream home.
