Packhorse Lane
development of 4 dwellings | Marcham, Oxfordshire
Our client purchased this site with the benefit of an Outline Planning consent for 3 dwellings to the rear of an existing Victorian villa.
We were initially tasked with working up the outline proposal into a full planning scheme. At the rear of the site was an unmanaged woodland; looking at the previous tree survey it was clear that with some careful management and clearance of this woodland it would be possible to release this land for a further dwelling.
The root protection areas of the retained specimen trees gave us just enough room to accommodate a four bedroom dwelling. The plan form was very much derived from the space available within the tree canopies and has resulted in a very contemporary dwelling.
The contemporary nature of the design and material usage follows back through to the three dwellings towards the front of the site. This results in a scheme that reflects the semi-rural nature of the site without being alien to the architectural styles of the village.
