Architect in the House 2009
Following a number of successful visits for Architect in the House in the past, it appears that this years scheme has been rather over subscribed by architects and under-subscribed by potential clients!
The practice completed the second of two allocated visits this morning …
The first visit was for a client whose house was extended prior to her purchasing it. After a short discussion about what she would like to achieve, Allister suggested a radical rethink … to switch the over sized kitchen (in the extension) with the rather small front facing lounge. This solution is very economic in that the new lounge would take advantage of the bigger windows provided by the previous extension and have a good aspect onto the rear of the property – one happy client!
The second visit was to a couple who have a 1 bed grade 2 listed thatched cottage. Needless to say the underlying brief is for more bedroom accommodation. There is the potential for a rather neat contemporary solution for this building; if the project goes live then it will be interesting to see how the Conservation Officer and Local Planning department respond to it.
Looking forward to next year’s scheme already …
